Donation Delivery in St. John's, Arizona

The Black Hat Humane Society was founded over 10 years ago by Tamara Martin.  Tamara’s goal?, save as many Rez Dogs as possible.  Tamara and the Black Hat volunteers are doing exceptional work in isolated situations.

Senior Star Shaqiri!

This is Shaqiri!
Shaqiri is somewhere between 6-8 years of age.  She is completely blind but can she get around.  Shaqiri has been around other dogs and cats but likes to hang by herself-except at sleeping time!  Shaqiri doesn’t ask to go out but will get up and sniff around.  She is a great traveling dog and would do well with a long-distance driver.  Shaqiri is spayed and has had her rabies vaccination.  Her senior adoption fee is $50.00.

This is Picasso!  Picasso is all Blue Tick Coonhound.

Picasso came to Ferdinand’s Familia from one of San Diego County’s Public Shelters.  Picasso’s facial deformity is either congenital or human trauma.  The specialist who take care of Picasso removed four teeth so they wouldn’t cut into his mouth.  Picasso’s disability does not slow him down one bit!  He loves to play with both cats and dogs.  He is a sloppy drinker and can get into everything!  Picasso’s adoption fee is $150.00.  If interested, please contact us at janice@ferdinandsfamilia.org.

Sir Maxwell!

This is Maxwell-one of our Senior Stars . . .
Maxwell is a November rescue to Ferdinand’s Familia and with the help of a generous supporter Maxwell was able to receive dental work and neuter surgery.  Maxwell has 3 teeth-one of which is quite apparent in the picture.  He gets along with cats and dogs; however, he does like his own sleeping space.  The majority of Maxwell’s diet is soft food but he can chew kibble.  It appears he was fed table scraps as he looks helplessly to his eating human.  Maxwell is a little face shy and loud-sudden sounds and movements startle him.  He is taking MSM once a day for his hips-AND LOVES TO WALK!

Scooter & Zsanett

Scooter is a super-fantastic Pit Bull Terrier.  Scooter is special needs!  He has been diagnosed with Bilateral Luxating Elbows and walks on his elbows on his front legs.  He loves other dogs and plays with cats.  Scooter is about 25 pounds and can he scoot around.  He is currently living in a foster home with he Chihuahua playmate.  Scooter is neutered, microchipped and has had his rabies vaccination.  He is about 10 months old and needs tender loving care . . .  Scooter’s adoption fee is $125.00.

Downey with Friends . . .

Believe it or not!  Downey was born in the Spring of 2010!  We are not sure of his exact birthdate-as he was one of a couple of litters rescued from a local stable area!  Downey will be a big bunny!  He is very friendly on the ground and is getting “use to” being held by humans.  Downey has been around other bun-buns, cats and dogs!  He has lived both indoors and outdoors and does very well with his box!  Ferdinand’s Familia is currently accepting adoption applications for Downey!

The Starr himself-Cisco Starr!

Cisco-Starr is about a year of age and just a wonderful guy!  He loves other cats and should go to a home where there is at least one hanging around-Oh!, he loves humans too!  Cisco-Starr is neutered, microchipped and has had his rabies vaccination-HE IS READY FOR HIS NEW HOME!  Cisco-Starr’s adoption fee is $100.00.

Zsa-Zsa & Eva!

These two beautiful girls are the GABOR SISTERS!  Zsa-Zsa & Eva!  A bonded pair rescued from a South San Diego Shelter, these two girls are full of play and love.  They are box-trained and love their Timothy Hay and Pellets.  They are great around small dogs and cats-cool cucumbers these two!  Their bonded pair adoption fee is $70.00 which includes microchip and spay!

Zsanett Koppenhaver is a newcomer to Ferdinand’s Familia!  You can usually find Zsanett’s friendly smile and happy personality at most of our adoption events.  Zsanett loves small dogs and kittens spending time grooming, holding and sometimes feeding the little ones.  An avid baker, Zsanett makes the best PupCakes!  Just ask the dogs at Ferdinand’s Familia!

Ringo loves Michael

Michael is one of Ferdinand’s Familia’s Officers.  A founding member of Ferdinand’s Familia, Michael is currently the lead horse volunteer.  He spends his extra time training at Undisputed Gym in North Park as well as coaching up and coming competitors.

Carla & Lil' Nugget

Carla is a founder of the Geriatric Compassion Program (GCP) with Ferdinand’s Familia.  Carla works with Southern California Shelters pulling dogs over the age of ten that are scheduled for euthanasia-GIVING THEM A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE!  Lil’ Nugget (pictured above) was scheduled for euthanasia in January of 2010 and is still running around today.  Though this program has no more than 4-6 dogs-it is a wonderful opportunity to educate people on the benefits and joy of adopting an older animal.  Most dogs that come into GCP are available for adoption.  Please contact Carla at carla@carlalovesponies.com

Ferdinand’s Familia has rescued over 20 kittens and cats this
kitten season-and it isn’t over yet.  The South Shelter is 84% over capacity with cats and kittens; the shelter depends on rescues like Ferdiand’s Familia to help with this crisis.

Ferdinand’s Familia has quite a few bonded pairs available, both cats and kittens-there is a discount on the adoption fee when you adopt two cats or kittens.   Please open your heart and home to cats and kittens!  Remember!, Ferdinand’s Familia operates an integrated program exposing dogs to cats to rabbits to dogs!  And all cats and/or kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and if old enough have had their rabies vaccination.

Vanilla Ice and Ice-T are about 10 months old.  They are both neutered and microchipped.  They are great with other cats, kittens and small dogs.  They also loved to re-arrange your house while you are sleeping!  Vanilla Ice is the social one and Ice-T plays hard to get . . .  Their bonded pair adoption fee is $125.00

This is Beckham!

Beckham was given sanctuary about 7 years ago when a breeder was attempting to breed a “pocket pig”.  Beckham runs around the stables with her partner-Wilbur!  Pig kisses to you!

Lila Rose came to Ferdinand’s Familia after years of breeding at a Thoroughbred Racehorse Ranch.  After a long-time untreated injury, the volunteers at Ferdinand’s Familia attempted to treat a very simple ailment.  Lila Rose was with Ferdinand’s Familia for only 3-1/2 months and touched everyone she met.
